(Less Than) 1,000 Words

Sometimes I notice something beautiful — the way the light shines through the trees, or a little plant growing in an unlikely place — and if I have the presence of mind and a little bit of luck on my side, I'm able to capture it. Here are a handful of odd, beautiful little moments I've captured over the years.

I've used fancy film and digital SLR cameras in the past, but these days most of my photography is taken casually using a smartphone. At the end of the day, I don't think the emotional impact of an image has much to do with the camera it was taken on. I'm much more interested in the person holding the camera, and what they choose to pay attention to — and why.
